Sr. Software Engineer (AI)

Pendo is a product experience (PX) platform founded in 2013 by former product managers. The Emerging Team builds AI-native products from the ground up.

As a Sr. Software Engineer (AI), you will design and ship applied AI systems including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM-powered features from prototype to production. You will make technical decisions, evaluate model behavior, and communicate tradeoffs.

• Design and build AI systems including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM-powered features.
• Make principled decisions on prompting, fine-tuning, and tool selection.
• Instrument and evaluate model outputs, define evaluation frameworks, and implement guardrails.
• Own model deployment, monitoring, latency optimization, cost management, and reliability.
• Contribute across backend and frontend to ship full-stack AI products.
• Partner with product and design to frame problems.
• Stay current on research and tooling including transformers, diffusion architectures, and orchestration frameworks.

• Deep hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-powered systems including RAG, tool use, and agent orchestration.
• Strong technical depth in system design and tradeoffs.
• Experience owning technical quality and improving shared infrastructure.
• Strong command of model evaluation, including designing evaluation suites and detecting hallucinations.
• Solid understanding of modern model architectures including transformers and diffusion models.
• Production AI experience including deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
• Strong full-stack fundamentals.
• Exceptional communication and product thinking.
