Staff Engineer, Ads Business Manager

The Business Manager team owns the foundational business platform that enables advertisers, agencies, and enterprise customers to operate effectively on Reddit. They build and scale systems for business creation, structure, security, governance, and sharing across Reddit's Ads Platform.

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Ads Business Manager team, you will develop a long-term technical strategy and drive execution. This is a high-agency position, best classified as the Tech Lead archetype of Staff Engineer. The role requires deep backend expertise with enough frontend experience to periodically unblock yourself.

Responsibilities include defining technical strategy for business identity, governance, permissions, and organizational management; leading large cross-functional projects; mentoring engineers; and collaborating with stakeholders to drive adoption.

General requirements: 7+ years software engineering experience building production services at scale, Ads domain experience, previous Tech Lead experience, excellent communication, experience coordinating cross-functional efforts, solving complex system scaling and latency problems, strong proficiency in one or more AI tools, strong proficiency in Go or Python, experience with service frameworks (gRPC/Thrift) and API design, and experience with distributed systems, data modeling, and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka/PubSub).

Preferred: experience building identity/access management/governance solutions, ability to make UI changes using AI tools like Codex, and experience building solutions for advertising agencies or global enterprise customers.

Base salary range: $217,000—$303,900 USD. Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units.
