Engineering Manager, Query Service

Mixpanel Engineering is a small, fast-moving team focused on delivering real value to customers. Engineers own problems end to end, moving across the stack without silos. The Query Serving team owns the entrypoint to Mixpanel's analytics capabilities, including the Query API and infrastructure for planning queries and protecting systems at scale. They work on initiatives like defining APIs for agentic workflows, hardening query infrastructure for increased AI query volume, and establishing warehouse interoperability strategy.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join this organization. Teams operate as autonomous pods with engineering, product, and design working side by side. Engineering owns execution, quality, and operations. The team is distributed across North America with strong clusters in San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Austin.

• Lead an engineering team and grow its scope over time.
• Build an exceptional team by hiring well, coaching deeply, and creating a culture of ownership.
• Shape direction alongside Product, turning big ideas into focused execution.
• Set the technical bar and protect the system, possibly through hands-on technical leadership or empowering tech leads.

• 6+ years engineering experience; 2+ years leading engineering teams.
• Experience building and running infrastructure for real-world, customer-facing web applications.
• Experience building and using AI-powered products in production.
• Proven collaboration with product managers and designers.
• Strong judgment in technical tradeoffs.
• Evidence of leadership through influence, alignment, and growing others.
• Director candidates must have experience managing managers.
• Skilled at navigating ambiguity and bringing clarity to complex org structures.
• High level of ownership, accountability, and product intuition.

The total target cash compensation (TTCC) includes base and variable compensation. The range is $279,000—$377,000 USD. This position is also eligible for equity consideration and benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance.
