About Gusto
Gusto is on a mission to grow the small business economy, handling payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR for over 500,000 small businesses nationwide. With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, Gusto is building a workplace that reflects the people it serves. All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs). AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Gusto, and all team members are expected to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role.
About the Role
Symmetry Software, a Gusto subsidiary, is seeking an autonomous, forward-thinking Executive Operations Partner to sit at the center of how Symmetry runs. This role serves as the strategic right hand to the CEO, Elizabeth Oviedo, taking ownership of leadership operating rhythms, complex scheduling, and operational support for the Symmetry steering committee as it navigates a pivotal growth transformation. This is a senior, high-impact role for a leader who anticipates needs by default and reduces friction before it surfaces.
About the Team
Symmetry Software is the payroll infrastructure for software and payroll platforms, powering the paychecks of over 64 million workers each year. Their fully integrated suite of payroll tax APIs and software tools allows companies to solve tax compliance issues and build applications across the entirety of the payroll process. Increasingly, their AI products are reshaping what’s possible for tax compliance infrastructure.
What You'll Do Day-to-Day
- Own calendar management and meeting rhythms, anticipating complex scheduling needs and eliminating conflicts for the CEO and Head of Engineering.
- Partner closely with the Insights & Operations Partner to operationalize meeting cadences and follow through.
- Embed AI-enabled systems into how Symmetry runs, using AI to draft, synthesize, and accelerate work such as meeting summaries, action-item extraction, inbox triage, first-draft comms and decks, research, and briefing prep. Build repeatable workflows, prompt libraries, and documentation.
- Act as an extension of the leaders you support, triaging inboxes, representing the CEO with external partners, and drafting executive presentations and company-wide comms.
- Lead complex travel and events, coordinating quarterly travel and leading onsite and event planning for team off-sites and celebrations.
- Ensure seamless expense and budget processes for key executives, and establish or improve administrative systems.
- Serve as a trusted thought partner, framing decisions and offering options, and act with delegated authority on routine decisions.
- Serve as a culture carrier and strengthen team identity.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years supporting VP-level or above executives, including calendaring for multiple executives, complex travel, and event planning — or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated AI fluency with specific AI workflows you designed, documented, and got others to adopt. You write structured prompts with real context and constraints, critically review output, and protect sensitive data by default.
- An autonomous, strategic working style with the ability to navigate ambiguity and balance tradeoffs.
- Influence across leaders and teams, building trust through clarity, follow-through, and discretion.
- Outstanding organization and judgment under pressure, with a bias toward 'find a way.'
- Strong written and spoken communication, plus project management from conception to completion.
- Culture builder with a strong instinct for bringing people together.
- Proficiency with Google Suite and AI Tooling: Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Notion, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or others.
Compensation & Benefits
Cash compensation for this role is $82,130 to $101,294 in Scottsdale & most major metro locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience, and expertise. All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs).
Location & Work Style
This role is based in Scottsdale, AZ and is Hybrid. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, whose physical office is in Scottsdale. The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas. When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
