As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll be the bridge between technical capabilities and the needs of strategic customers, ensuring their success with Tailscale's products.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage onboarding for new strategic customers.
- Provide training and resources for long-term success.
- Offer technical support, diagnosing and resolving issues across Tailscale's platform.
- Assist with configuration, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct QBRs to review usage, success metrics, and future goals.
- Build strong relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
- Serve as the voice of the customer internally.
- Work with sales, product, engineering, and support teams.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, FAQs, and guides.
Qualifications
- 6+ years in a technical role with minimum 2 years of customer-facing experience (Solutions engineer/architect, Sr. Support Engineer, etc.).
- Experience with enterprise customers in a consultative capacity.
- Strong understanding of networking, VPNs, and security principles.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and other DevOps technologies.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Analytical mindset and troubleshooting skills.
- Passion for customer service and building long-term relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritize tasks.
- Collaborative mindset.
Compensation
US Pay Range (OTE): $150,000—$250,000 USD. Includes base salary, equity, and variable compensation tied to quarterly sales targets.
