HR Consultant

Gusto is on a mission to grow the small business economy, handling payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR for over 500,000 small businesses nationwide. As an HR Consultant, you will drive people operations for designated small business clients on behalf of Gusto. You will excel in dynamic environments, applying your passion for developing and refining processes, and leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive efficiency.

• Lead organizations to achieve People objectives, including attracting, hiring, onboarding, developing, and retaining talent, and ensuring compliance.
• Influence business and talent initiatives, driving practices that enable high performance and operational excellence.
• Initiate and maintain effective communications with leadership and employees; provide coaching on performance management and feedback to improve productivity and engagement.
• Engage in strategic workforce planning, identifying competency and talent gaps, and introducing succession planning.
• Translate business needs into comprehensive People Plans and provide organizational development support through interventions like organization design and change management.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, processing HR data, administering payroll and benefits, and ensuring compliance with HR regulations.

• 4-8 years of HR experience as a People Operations Specialist and/or HR Generalist.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong proficiency with cutting-edge technology and quick adoption of new tools.
• Proficiency with HR software, Google Suite, and modern productivity tools (Slack, Asana, Zoom, etc.).
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
• Significant experience with workforce analytics, using data and reporting to drive strategic decisions.
• Demonstrated agility in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle issues ethically.

The cash compensation for this role is between $98,000 - $115,000/year in Denver and most other major cities, and between $119,000 - $140,000/year for New York & San Francisco. Final offers vary by location, experience, and expertise.
