The role
The Localization Manager, Canada will be pivotal in Airbnb's international expansion, joining the core leadership team in the region to shape local initiatives and adapt global strategies. The role serves as the linguistic and cultural expert for Canada, owning language strategy and acting as guardian of Airbnb's tone, style, and voice.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Country Manager, Marketing Manager, Legal Counsel, Business Operations, Policy and Communications Manager to devise market business strategies
- Craft language strategies offering users an authentic native experience in Canada
- Own and drive localization of Product naming and Creative copies, building Airbnb's brand in international markets
- Research needs of international users in collaboration with Consumer Insights and Research team
- Lead localization quality improvement initiatives; ensure translation and QA vendors deliver high quality service aligned with Airbnb standards
- Develop and maintain linguistic and cultural standards and guidelines; support content copywriting for marketing initiatives
- Work with Localization Program Managers and Linguistic QA Managers to ship quality products internationally
Qualifications
- 8+ years in product localization with a track record of owning localization strategy in international launches
- Fluency in English and native knowledge of Canadian French
- Experience building market strategies informed by market research and data analysis
- Strong cross-functional collaboration, project/program management, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels in ambiguous environments
Compensation & benefits
Canada Annual Pay Range: $91,000—$107,000 CAD. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
Location
This position is Canada - Remote Eligible, with occasional work at an Airbnb office or offsites as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a province where Airbnb Canada, Inc. has a registered entity: Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.
