Manager I, Engineering - Data Visualization Explorations

Datadog is the leading observability and security platform for the AI era, providing unified visibility across the technology stack. This Engineering Manager will lead the Data Visualizations Explorations team within the Graphing organization, setting product direction and coaching team members. The team builds end-to-end experiences for observability engineers, extending core widgets like Hostmap and Geomap Visualizations and leveraging existing Datadog data sources. The role involves close partnerships with product teams to understand customer needs and deliver compelling data experiences.

• Work with Product Management and Design to plan and staff projects for the Data Visualization Explorations team
• Coach and develop engineers at various levels
• Ensure strong cross-team communication and design best practices around project management, code review, architecture patterns
• Proactively anticipate cross-team dependencies and blockers
• Identify opportunities to reuse or customize features across dashboards, notebooks, and product pages
• Deeply understand customer needs and participate in customer conversations, review product briefs, read feature requests
• Define and maintain high standards for operations practices, including bug triage, incident response, and performance telemetry

• At least 2 years of people management experience in a software engineering or similar setting
• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills, including familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React
• Excellent communication skills, including delivering clear, actionable, and empathetic feedback
• Product-oriented: put solving customer problems first and know how to ship features quickly and iterate
• Passionate about data visualization and building intuitive, performant user interfaces
• Demonstrated sense of ownership over your team's work

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. The reasonably estimated yearly salary for this role is $192,000—$240,000 USD. Benefits include healthcare, dental, parental planning, mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
