Anthropic is a public benefit corporation focused on building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We are looking for a Research Engineer / Research Scientist to work on large-scale ML systems, touching all parts of our code and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Improve cluster reliability, throughput, and efficiency
- Run and design scientific experiments
- Improve dev tooling
Qualifications
- Significant software engineering experience
- Results-oriented with a bias for flexibility and impact
- Enjoy pair programming
- Interest in machine learning research
- Strong candidates may have experience with high-performance ML systems, GPUs, Kubernetes, PyTorch, OS internals, language modeling with transformers, reinforcement learning, and large-scale ETL
Compensation
Annual salary: $350,000—$500,000 USD
Work location
Hybrid: currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more time in our offices. This role is based in New York City, Seattle, or San Francisco.
