Safeguards Enforcement Analyst, Chem & Explosives Harms

As an Enforcement Analyst focused on Chem & Explosives Harms, you will enforce Anthropic's Usage Policy to detect and mitigate risks of AI misuse for chemical and explosives harms. You will read real model interactions and make fast, well-reasoned calls about whether activity is benign research or a credible attempt at harm, owning and continuously improving enforcement monitoring workflows with Policy, Threat Intelligence, Data Science, and Engineering partners.

Important context: you may be exposed to explicit content of a sexual, violent, or psychologically disturbing nature, and the role carries a shared on-call responsibility across the Policy and Enforcement teams.

• Enforce Usage Policies with focus on detecting and mitigating chemical and explosives risks.
• Own enforcement monitoring workflows, improving detection, investigation, triage, and escalation.
• Monitor platform activity to identify emerging patterns in chemical and explosives threats.
• Design and architect automated enforcement systems and review workflows.
• Conduct thorough investigations of potential violations, documenting evidence.
• Partner with Engineering and Data Science to optimize detection models and automated enforcement systems.
• Partner with Policy and Threat Intelligence on risk-assessment frameworks and safety systems.
• Provide enforcement-grounded feedback on policy gaps and handle escalations.

• Degree in a chemistry-related field and/or relevant professional experience.
• Experience in Trust & Safety, content moderation, or policy enforcement at platform scale, including with generative AI tools.
• Experience using AI tools to develop data dashboards for metrics collection.
• Ability to analyze complex, ambiguous situations and make well-reasoned decisions under time pressure.
• Proactive and self-directed; clear written communication of technical chemistry concepts.

• Subject matter expertise in chemical and explosives defense, security, WMD/CBRNE non-proliferation, or threat-intelligence.
• Understanding of real-world chemical and explosives risk, including adversary intent, acquisition and weaponization pathways, and dual-use concerns.
• Proficiency in SQL and/or other data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), scheduled chemicals, precursor controls, and energetic-materials safety frameworks.

Annual Salary: $245,000—$285,000 USD

Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination. Location-based hybrid policy: all staff expected in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. Visa sponsorship: Anthropic sponsors visas and makes every reasonable effort, retaining an immigration lawyer.
