Senior+ Applied Scientist

Role: We are looking for a Senior+ Applied Scientist to join the Machine Learning / Computer Vision team. This remote role (US-based) involves building end-to-end applications that generate insights from rich customer interactions and the 2T+ data points collected annually by sensors and cameras. Travel up to 5% may be required.

• Build and improve the accuracy of ML/CV models, including retraining and optimizing for Samsara-specific problems.
• Work with petabyte-scale data from cameras and sensors to develop new models.
• Optimize models for inference on backend and edge devices.
• Partner with firmware and full-stack teams to deploy models for optimal performance and cost.
• Stay connected to industry and academic research, adopting novel technology.
• Collaborate with product teams to translate customer needs into ML/CV solutions.

• BS/MS in Computer Science or technical degree with 5+ years of experience as an Applied Scientist, ML Engineer, or similar in Computer Vision; or PhD in CS or quantitative discipline with 3+ years of CV experience.
• Strong proficiency in C++, Golang, Java, or Python.
• Proficiency with ML tools like Spark, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Familiarity with managing data processing and ML code via GitHub.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Compensation: Annual base salary range $170,170–$319,000 USD, plus an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff and ongoing refresh opportunities.
