Senior Backend Engineer - Databases - Loki Query

The Databases team owns the telemetry databases: Mimir for metrics, Loki for logs, Tempo for traces, and Pyroscope for profiles. These are multi-tenant distributed systems implemented in Go and running on Kubernetes across major cloud providers (GCP, Azure, AWS). As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Loki Query team, you will design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, owning reliability, performance, and availability. You will take an active role in influencing the roadmap, drive projects from ideation to operations, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with the team in a remote-first environment.

• Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used, but Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar translates well.
• Some experience delivering projects from requirements to shipping in a self-driven way.
• Some experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or systems engineering experience.
• Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software.

• Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker.
• Been a user of Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles.
• Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with on-call and operations/SRE tasks or infrastructure as code.

In Germany, the base compensation range is €97,000 - €121,000. Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable), and other benefits. The company offers 30 days of annual leave, with 3 days reserved for Grafana Shutdown Days.
