About the Role
The Senior Data Engineer II, Finance will join the Data Infrastructure team, working closely with accounting, billing, and revenue teams to support monthly/quarterly book close, retailer invoicing, and financial reporting. This role owns critical data integration pipelines and models, shaping the Finance Data Strategy.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with finance, accounting, billing, and revenue teams to translate pain points into self-serve, reliable, scalable data solutions.
- Mentor team members and champion engineering excellence.
- Own critical data integration pipelines and models for accurate financial reporting.
- Drive organization-wide initiatives shaping the financial data vision.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years in Data/Software Engineering with focus on data pipelines (financial data).
- Strong knowledge of cloud warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
- Proficiency in Python, Airflow, Spark, Iceberg, Delta Lake in production.
- Expert in data modeling, SQL, and dbt.
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines for accounting/billing.
- Understanding of data immutability, auditability, slowly changing dimensions.
- Excellent cross-functional communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent.
- Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow.
- Experience with SOX controlled data systems.
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay range for Canadian candidates: CAN$188,000—$198,500 CAD. Eligible for new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants. Instacart offers market-competitive compensation and benefits.
Location
Remote in Canada, specifically Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, or Nova Scotia.
