About the job

Instacart is transforming the grocery industry by providing grocery delivery and household goods, offering flexible earnings opportunities to personal shoppers. The company operates with a Flex First approach, allowing employees to choose where they work.

The Strategic Finance team partners with business leaders to drive clarity and rigor. The Retailer Pod supports retailer partnerships by shaping deal strategy, building financial models, and guiding decisions. We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to accelerate retailer deal flow and portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end financial modeling for retailer partnerships, including pricing strategies, incentive structures, unit economics, and ROI analyses with scenario and sensitivity testing.
  • Partner with Retail Partnerships and Deal Desk to translate strategy into financial outcomes and support negotiations with data-driven recommendations.
  • Build and maintain driver-based forecasts for retailer deals, establish KPIs, track performance, and surface insights.
  • Design and standardize scalable templates, playbooks, and dashboards for diligence and performance management.
  • Create executive-ready materials—models, memos, and presentations—that distill complex analyses.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Science, Accounting, Revenue Operations, and Legal.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Management Consulting supporting commercial deals or growth initiatives in technology, e-commerce, marketplace, logistics, or retail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel/Google Sheets, including driver-based models, cohort and retention analysis, and scenario/sensitivity analysis.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with a BI tool (e.g., Looker or Tableau).
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating or structuring commercial partnerships or contracts and presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications include experience with marketplace or retailer/CPG partnerships, collaboration with Sales/Partnerships and Legal on deal terms, familiarity with revenue recognition (ASC 606), and experience building dashboards in Looker/Tableau and automating workflows with SQL or Python.
