About the Role

Instacart is seeking a Senior Manager to build, train, and lead the Technical Account Management (TAM) practice and own post-launch technical excellence for Storefront Pro. This role involves founding and scaling a tiered TAM organization to support a rapidly growing portfolio of retailers.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, and develop the TAM team from the ground up.
  • Define and refine platform health approach, identify key metrics, and establish measurement practices.
  • Design and operate the team's operating model, including portfolio assignment, tiering, coverage, and escalation paths.
  • Develop systems for intake and prioritization across stakeholders.
  • Serve as senior escalation point for critical issues, communicating with retailer stakeholders including C-suite.
  • Negotiate scope and responsibility boundaries with partners and internal teams.
  • Initiate cross-functional initiatives for continuous technical improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • 10+ years in technical account management, solutions engineering/architecture, technical consulting, or engineering.
  • 5+ years leading and maturing engineering or engineering-adjacent teams.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including VP/C-suite liaison.
  • Ability to drive large-scale transformation programs.
  • Engineering depth: ability to analyze complex platform integrations (REST APIs, authentication, ETL, message queues, async patterns, error handling).
  • Balance proactive and reactive approaches to technical health.
  • Collaborative across internal partners.

Preferred

  • Experience founding or bootstrapping a TAM or professional services function.
  • Deep domain expertise in enterprise architecture (loyalty, identity, payments, POS, catalog).
  • Understanding of grocery retail or e-commerce ecosystem.
  • Experience with platform partner/integration ecosystems, multi-tenancy, CI/CD, cloud architectures, gRPC/protobuf.

Compensation

Base pay ranges for US-based candidates (permanent work location):

  • CA, NY, CT, NJ: $183,000—$193,000
  • WA: $176,000—$185,500
  • OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $167,000—$176,500
  • All other states: $152,000—$160,500

Eligible for new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
