About the job
About the Role
Airbnb is a global marketplace connecting guests and hosts, with Payments central to creating trust for every transaction. The Payments Platform team acts as a conductor, leveraging AI prototyping to bring together engineers, designers, and data scientists to build great product experiences. The Senior Platform Manager, Accounts will shape the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Payment Accounts area, and lead execution of cross-functional initiatives with partner teams across Payments, Trust, Guest & Host, and Compliance. This is a highly strategic role with a mandate to define and build new platform capabilities from the ground up, owning how the platform scales to many guest and host use cases.
Responsibilities
- Own Account Foundations, including payments requirements with Trust, Guest & Host, and Compliance teams, and execute on logical account structures and external account orchestration in support of payments use cases.
- Partner on account receivables and loss-reduction initiatives where Payment Accounts capabilities can improve user experience, operational clarity, or risk outcomes.
- Evaluate account-related user data to understand evolving behaviors and needs related to payment activity and management.
- Use data signals related to payment preferences to deepen the passport profile (identity graph) associated with all users on the marketplace, potentially reducing false positive risk and compliance actions.
- Resolve account frictions and compliance information, and manage transparency of business-related information and points of contact to reduce downstream friction or unnecessary account restrictions.
- Manage account access among multiple users with access to data, actions, and payment methods.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience building payment platforms or fintech products in a product management role, with a track record of owning strategy, roadmap, and execution.
- Demonstrated experience building enterprise or B2B2C products for large marketplaces, including deep understanding of identity workflows, compliance requirements, and fraud & losses.
- Experience building or managing API-based products and developer-facing platforms, with the ability to engage credibly with engineering teams and external developer partners.
- Experience contributing to products that serve users across multiple geographies, currencies, or regulatory environments.
- Ability to define a clear product area strategy, success criteria, and roadmap, and align cross-functional partners around priorities and tradeoffs.
- Exceptional prioritization and decision-making skills: given competing needs and limited resources, able to make clear tradeoffs and communicate rationale to stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to build strong partnerships inside and outside the Product organization, including with operations, compliance, finance, legal, and external enterprise customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical background with domain experience in multi-rail payment processing & operations.
- Experience with payments and risk losses.
- Experience scaling digital wallets and identity services.
- Experience at a consumer marketplace or two-sided platform with both B2B and B2C product surface areas.
- Experience with AI prototypes in the product development process.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully scale products from 0>1, including building new product areas in ambiguous environments.
