Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to serve as the technical visionary for secure software delivery across Docker's products. This individual contributor role owns the multi-year technical strategy for build security and software supply chain capabilities, working directly with the SVP of Engineering and executive team.

- Architect systems to detect and prevent threats in the software build process, including compromised dependencies, malicious build steps, tampered artifacts, and untrusted base images.
- Design provenance and attestation infrastructure, artifact signing, verification, and policy enforcement across developer inner loop and CI/CD pipelines.
- Architect SBOM generation, dependency analysis, and vulnerability intelligence capabilities.
- Integrate security capabilities across the full SDLC, from local development through CI/CD to production.
- Mentor Staff and Principal engineers and represent Docker's security architecture externally.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in build security, software supply chain security, or SDLC tooling.
- Hands-on architectural experience with artifact signing, provenance, SBOM, dependency security, CI/CD security, or vulnerability intelligence.
- Expert-level understanding of API design, service architecture, and system integration patterns.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern infrastructure patterns.
- Experience building products for enterprise customers with complex security and compliance requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Preferred: background in security or developer tools companies, experience with container technologies, Kubernetes, and open source contributions.
