About the job
About the Role
Fivetran and dbt Labs are now one company. Together we build the data movement and transformation tools that data teams around the world rely on. Our Analytics team runs on those same tools every day, so you'll work on a modern data stack and help set best practices for the industry. As a Senior Product Analyst, you'll help product leaders understand how customers adopt, use, and stay with our core Fivetran data movement and dbt platform products as well as new product releases spanning AI, BI, and compute. You'll be a 'full-stack' analyst. You'll build the data models, define the metrics, create the dashboards, run the analysis, and turn it all into recommendations that shape what we build next. AI is part of how we work. We expect analysts to use AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate analysis and increase efficiency, while applying their own judgment and validating the results.
What You'll Do
- Partner with product managers and product line leaders to understand problems and potential solutions with data.
- Deliver regular analysis and insight on product adoption, engagement, and retention.
- Proactively investigate trends in user behavior and product usage.
- Define, measure, and monitor the KPIs that show whether our products are healthy and whether the company is on track.
- Size the potential impact of new product initiatives and recommend how to prioritize them.
- Analyze product launches and experiments, and recommend what to do next.
- Find and reduce friction in the funnels users go through to sign up, activate, and adopt our products.
- Tackle questions where product data meets broader business data, such as revenue, sales, and support.
- Build and maintain the data models, metrics, and dashboards behind your work.
- Help new hires, colleagues, and partners understand our data and use it well.
Skills We're Looking For
- 5+ years in analytics, mostly in product analytics, ideally at a high-growth B2B or SaaS company.
- Advanced SQL. You can turn messy, raw data into clean, trustworthy datasets, and write, debug, and explain SQL yourself.
- Comfort using AI tools in analytics workflows to explore data, draft or improve SQL, automate repetitive work, and synthesize findings. You can evaluate and validate AI-generated output.
- Hands-on experience building data models, ideally with dbt, creating dashboards in a BI tool such as Looker, Omni, or Tableau, and performing funnel, cohort, and segmentation analysis.
- A track record of using analysis to drive product or business decisions, not just report on them.
- You can take an open-ended question with little direction and turn it into a clear analysis and recommendation.
- Strong attention to detail and prioritization.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain findings to executives and technical tradeoffs to engineers.
- Experience influencing cross-functional, distributed teams, both asynchronously and in real time.
Bonus Skills
- Experience designing and analyzing experiments (A/B/n tests), including test design, sample size, significance, and turning results into launch decisions.
- Deep knowledge of the SaaS customer lifecycle and business metrics, such as ARR (annual recurring revenue), retention, and expansion.
- Experience defining product events and helping teams self-serve in product analytics tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Heap.
- Experience developing and scaling a large dbt project.
- Python or R for analysis.
