Honeycomb is an observability platform for teams building and managing software. We are a fully distributed company, and this role is remote in Ireland. We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our SRE team, working at the intersection of infrastructure, developer experience, and organizational enablement. You will help scale backend systems, lead cross-team projects, and participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation.
Responsibilities
- Help scale Honeycomb's backend systems to support high-volume customers.
- Build organizational trust through transparent communication and direct feedback.
- Work with backend teams to optimize infrastructure usage.
- Become an Incident Commander and train others.
- Help develop a healthy cross-Atlantic engineering culture.
- Participate in on-call rotation as the EU side of a follow-the-sun rotation.
- Navigate tradeoffs between reliability and other goals.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in AWS and Kubernetes.
- Experience with cost analysis and reduction.
- Solid Helm, Terraform, and CI/CD experience.
- Project management skills.
- Software engineering experience (Golang a plus).
- Experience with Kafka or another high-volume distributed system.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with observability concepts (SLOs, instrumentation).
- Comfort operating in ambiguity.
- Experience working in geographically distributed teams.
Compensation: Base salary €140,590—€165,400 EUR based on experience.
