Senior Software Developer - Security - Elasticsearch

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to join the Elasticsearch Security team. You will contribute to the architecture and design of Elasticsearch's main features, including authentication, authorization, and tenant isolation.

• Contribute to core security initiatives from architecture to production.
• Participate in technical design, planning, and execution for major security components.
• Develop foundational security models and optimize security performance at scale.
• Apply cryptographic solutions to customer use cases and ensure robust data isolation.
• Collaborate with peers to embed security into new features and drive vulnerability management with InfoSec.

• Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
• Experience with concurrency models and high-performance, thread-safe, lock-free code.
• Experience building scalable authorization systems under high concurrency.
• Solid comprehension of distributed systems security, including zero-trust transport and cluster state propagation.
• Deep knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and SAML.
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development and debug complex systems.

• Knowledge of cipher suites, TLS handshakes, PKI/certificate lifecycle.
• Familiarity with Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC).
• Experience mapping engine-level controls to FedRAMP, FIPS 140, SOC 2.
• Experience working on internals of a data store or search engine.

Base salary range: $128,300—$203,000 CAD. No variable compensation component. Eligible for Elastic's stock program.
