Senior Software Engineer

Instacart is transforming the grocery industry by providing grocery delivery and personal shopping services. The Marketing Enablement & Technology (MET) team builds the systems, APIs, and data pipelines powering Instacart's Paid Marketing channels.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Paid MarTech pod to architect and scale backend services and ETL processes enabling marketing campaign execution, conversion tracking, and third-party integrations across Paid Social, Display, SEM, Online Video, Linear Television, and Streaming Audio.

• Lead complete projects independently across backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Architect scalable, robust solutions for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Drive technical improvements and design abstractions to simplify complexity.
• Partner with Marketing and Product stakeholders to influence features and requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.

Minimum: 5–8 years of software engineering experience with expert-level proficiency in Python for building scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines. Proven track record of leading projects end-to-end. Deep expertise with data integration technologies (Snowflake, SQL, ETL) and workflow orchestration (Airflow, DBT). Strong product thinking and communication skills.

Preferred: Experience with automation frameworks, ad platform APIs (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Snapchat Ads), digital marketing KPIs, cloud cost optimization, chaos engineering, disaster recovery, security-by-design, and AI tools.

For Canadian based candidates, the base pay range is CAN$168,000—$177,500 CAD. This role is eligible for a new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
