Honeycomb is an observability platform for teams building and managing software. The LLM Observability team builds the foundational layer that makes AI workloads observable, defining how AI systems are represented in telemetry (spans, traces, token usage, cost, eval signals) and normalizing data from ecosystems like LangChain, OpenLLMetry, and Braintrust into a consistent OpenTelemetry-based model.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deliver backend systems and APIs in Go, emphasizing clarity, maintainability, and backward compatibility.
- Build and maintain full-stack product features using React/TypeScript and Go.
- Provide technical leadership, define patterns, and lead complex multi-team projects.
- Collaborate across disciplines in a product triad model.
- Support and own software in production, including on-call rotations.
- Mentor engineers and share knowledge.
Qualifications
- Deep experience designing, building, and maintaining backend systems, with substantial expertise in Go or similar languages.
- Frontend proficiency with React and TypeScript.
- Experience leading complex technical projects.
- Ownership and autonomy, with a track record of making others better.
- Collaborative and flexible mindset, clear communication.
- Interest in observability and production culture.
- Nice to have: experience with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor).
Compensation
Base salary: $183,340—$206,000 USD.
