Senior Software Engineer - Search Relevance in ES|QL - Elasticsearch

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Search Relevance team. This globally-distributed team focuses on delivering a robust search experience, including contributing to Lucene.

In this role, you will lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to produce an industry-leading search engine, contribute to building new search features, fix bugs, and work on vector search capabilities. You will be an expert on search relevance and drive improvements. You will collaborate with a distributed team and community members.

You bring professional experience with search or vector databases, using HNSW, IVF, or other algorithms at scale. You have solid skills in core Java and are conversant in data structures and concurrency. You work autonomously and collaboratively. Bonus points for experience with Elasticsearch, open source, and data storage technologies.

Compensation: The typical starting salary range is $133,100—$210,600 USD. In select locations (Seattle, LA, SF Bay Area, NYC), the range is $159,900—$252,900 USD. This role is eligible for Elastic's stock program, a company-matched 401k up to 6%, health coverage, generous vacation, and at least 16 weeks of parental leave.
