Senior Software Engineer, Server Security

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Server Security team. The Server Security team is a development-focused group within MongoDB's core engineering organization, building features that enable database users to secure their data globally. You will work on critical components including cryptography (Queryable Encryption, at-rest data encryption), identity & access (authentication, authorization, TLS, X.509), network security (PKI, hashing, CRLs), and system integrity (resilience, observability, compliance).

As a Senior Engineer, you will apply distributed systems fundamentals to deliver core security features, build and test new security features in a large C++ codebase, coordinate with engineering and support teams, and lead investigations into complex areas of the codebase.

We are looking for a highly technical engineer with 5+ years of experience building distributed systems, proficiency in a compiled language (C++, Rust, Go, Java, or similar), and a strong understanding of computer architecture and internals. A degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience is required.

This role can be remote or hybrid anywhere in the USA or Canada. MongoDB offers a base salary range of $126,000—$248,000 USD for U.S.-based candidates, along with benefits including equity, flexible PTO, 20 weeks fully-paid parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, and health benefits.
