Senior Staff GenAI Engineer - Application Performance Monitoring (APM)

Datadog is the leading observability and security platform for the AI era, providing unified visibility across the technology stack. The APM team is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer with deep experience in GenAI/ML to lead agentic workflows and incident troubleshooting.

• Serve as technical owner for GenAI initiatives within APM, leading design, development, and deployment of ML/AI-powered features.
• Guide long-term strategy and technical direction for GenAI workflows.
• Build and benchmark GenAI/ML models using state-of-the-art techniques.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build automated investigation and triaging tools.
• Mentor engineers and influence engineering culture.

• BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including 4+ years leading cross-team technical initiatives.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale GenAI/ML initiatives in a product-driven environment.
• Highly proficient in model development, deployment, evaluation, and optimization.
• Ability to drive initiatives across cross-functional teams and solve ambiguous challenges.
• Passionate about mentoring others.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools and validate AI-generated output.
