About the Role
Instacart's Marketing Enablement & Technology (MET) team is seeking a Software Engineer II for the Technical Search Visibility pod to build features that enhance search engine visibility and drive organic traffic. You'll develop full-stack features to improve SEO performance across millions of web pages, contribute to data pipelines, and partner with Marketing and Product.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship full SEO and AEO features end-to-end with minimal oversight.
- Design and ship high-quality full-stack features that enhance search engine visibility, AI answer engine performance, and organic traffic.
- Apply technical best practices for performant, observable, and cost-aware code.
- Contribute to data pipelines for SEO and AEO data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and marketing partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2–4 years of software engineering experience with proficiency in React, Ruby, Python, PostgreSQL, and SQL.
- Ability to build and launch complete features end-to-end.
- Experience with distributed systems and data engineering, including Airflow or DBT.
- Strong product mindset and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SEO/AEO, structured data, search engine crawling, Core Web Vitals.
- Familiarity with AI-powered search engines and LLMs.
- Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Airflow, Hadoop), NoSQL, and data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift).
- Experience with A/B testing frameworks.
Compensation
Base pay range for Canadian candidates: CAN$145,000—$153,000 CAD. Eligible for new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
Location
Remote within Canada, only in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
