Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Orb is building a revenue design platform that helps teams automate billing, evolve pricing, and grow revenue with confidence. The company is joining forces with Adyen, expanding what they can build and raising the ceiling on the problems they solve for customers.

As a member of the infrastructure team, you will maintain a high bar for reliability, as downtime can directly lead to lost revenue. You will be responsible for the infrastructure powering the entire product, from event ingestion, API services, alerting, invoicing, and everything in between.

• Lead infrastructure resiliency efforts - recovery mechanisms, tenant isolation, load spike handling, etc.
• Improve observability and operability of our systems.
• Build performance-critical, user-facing infrastructure (e.g., real-time event processing).
• Plan scaling initiatives to handle large customer growth.
• Partner with other engineering teams to ensure we build reliable product features.
• Learn from a talented peer group, and share your expertise.

• You think deeply about edge cases, failure modes, bottlenecks, etc.
• You have a knack for investigating and debugging tricky errors and performance issues.
• You enjoy building scalable infrastructure for a high-growth product.
• You can effectively mentor fellow engineers on best practices (observability, rollout strategies, risk mitigation, etc.).
• You have 3+ years of experience in software engineering, and you’ve worked in the infrastructure domain for 2+ years.

Orb’s tech stack includes: Frontend: TypeScript + React + Tailwind CSS; Backend: Python; Datastores: PostgreSQL + ClickHouse; Streaming Platforms: Kafka + Spark Streaming; Cloud Platform: AWS. Experience with these specific tools is not required.

Compensation: $170K – $232K, plus equity. For San Francisco Bay Area, New York, and Amsterdam residents, Orb has a hybrid work culture with 3 days/week in office. For remote roles, they ask you to join in person 1x per quarter.
