About the job
Pinterest is looking for a Sr. Staff Quantitative Product Researcher to lead the development and evolution of user-centered measurement across our consumer experience. This role partners with Data Science and Engineering to guide measurement work end-to-end, from defining constructs to validating metrics and building behavioral proxies or predictive models.
What you'll do
- Lead user-centered metrics development end-to-end: define constructs, design and validate surveys, establish reliability and sensitivity, guide experimentation, and partner with DS/Eng to build behavioral proxies or predictive models.
- Extend measurement into model stewardship: inform retraining decisions, evaluate generalizability across segments, and stress-test model boundaries.
- Conduct deep-dive learning analyses to uncover drivers and levers behind key metrics and translate into actionable direction.
- Set and execute the learning agenda across a broad problem space, prioritizing questions and choosing appropriate methods.
- Act as an equal partner to Data Science and Engineering, shaping measurement direction.
- Synthesize behavioral analyses, experiment results, qualitative insights, and own work to inform product and business decisions.
- Present to senior leadership and mentor junior quantitative researchers.
What we're looking for
- 7+ years of quantitative user research experience with large-scale consumer data, including leading metric development end-to-end.
- Deep expertise in survey methodology, statistical modeling, experimentation at scale, and behavioral analysis.
- Experience informing ML model evaluation and maintenance.
- Fluency in R or Python and SQL, and strong data visualization skills.
- Ability to operate as a peer to Data Science and Engineering.
- Proactive, with experience working horizontally across teams and presenting to senior leadership.
- Experience leveraging AI tools in research with discernment.
- PhD preferred in computational social science, statistics, computer science, or related field.
Base salary range: $163,639—$336,903 USD. The position is also eligible for equity.
