Staff Android Engineer, Brand Ad Formats

The Brand Ad Formats team drives development of ad formats that help advertisers maximize reach and brand impact, focusing on high-visibility, awareness-driven solutions. They are building fully customizable interactive formats and AI-driven ads incorporating User-Generated Content (UGC), and doubling down on Video Ads to make Reddit an industry leader.

• Lead technical strategy for Video Ads, partnering with Product and Design to build a roadmap and drive technical design and execution.
• Provide guidance on building video ads and reddit-unique ad formats that scale to millions of users, establishing Android best practices and design reviews.
• Drive the entire development lifecycle from discovery and prototyping to testing, experimentation, and deployment.
• Mentor senior engineers across teams and establish best practices for design, testing, and operational excellence.

• 8+ years of software engineering experience (Staff level seniority).
• Deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android architectural patterns (3+ years), with 4+ Android projects from ideation to production.
• Prior experience in Ad Tech, building highly interactive/rich-media mobile experiences.
• Product mindset with proven track record of delivering user-facing features where UI polish and performance are critical.
• System design skills for complex, data-intensive environments and fault-tolerant client-side systems.
• Experience leveraging GenAI tools to increase software engineering productivity.
• Fluency with product metrics, designing and analyzing experiments with tools like BigQuery, HEX, Firebase.
• Versatility to work across the stack and explore innovative approaches (e.g., AI/ML integration).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills in a fully remote environment.
• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Base salary range: $217,000—$303,900 USD. Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units.
