About the job

About the Role

Asana's IT Systems Engineering team builds the systems and processes that keep Asana running, including endpoint management, identity, and enterprise applications. As Manager of IT Client Endpoint Engineering, you will lead four engineers (two on client platform, two on applications) and report directly to the Head of IT Systems Engineering. This is a player/coach role: you set direction, run planning, and step in on escalations and architecture decisions while your engineers own most of the day-to-day. Your primary depth is in endpoint engineering, with enough SaaS administration background to lead the apps side without micromanaging it.

What You'll Achieve

  • Lead and develop your team: manage and mentor four engineers, set priorities, clear blockers, and help each person grow.
  • Own the client platform program: set strategy and lead execution for Asana's endpoint fleet (macOS, Windows, and mobile), including MDM infrastructure, zero-touch deployment, software catalog, and OS lifecycle.
  • Strengthen endpoint security: work with Corporate Security to harden endpoint posture, respond to incidents, and build initiatives connecting security priorities and endpoints.
  • Oversee the applications engineering function: your Apps engineers manage the SaaS portfolio (Asana, Google Workspace, Slack, Zendesk, DocuSign, 1Password, Slab, Figma, and more).
  • Be the technical escalation for hard endpoint problems, MDM decisions, and cross-team initiatives.
  • Push automation and efficiency: spot opportunities to reduce manual work through scripting, APIs, and workflow tooling.
  • Work across the organization: partner with Corporate Security, HR, Legal, and other business teams.
  • Document and share knowledge: ensure your team documents clearly and hands off processes.

About You

  • Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them.
  • Experience managing client endpoint infrastructure: macOS and Windows required; mobile (iOS/Android) a strong plus.
  • Hands-on with MDM platforms like Jamf, Intune, BigFix, or AirWatch; familiar with zero-touch deployment methods.
  • Comfortable with identity platforms like Okta and how they connect to endpoint management.
  • Can write scripts in Bash or PowerShell; familiar with APIs and orchestration tools like Workato.
  • Enough SaaS administration experience (Google Workspace, Slack, and similar) to lead a team that owns it.
  • Some management experience; this is a good role for a senior engineer who has led projects or a small team and is ready for the next step.
