About the role
As a Staff Android Engineer on the Rider App group in the Rider org, you will work on one of Lyft’s most critical Rider flows. The Rider App group is responsible for critical flows in the app as well as the app platform and quality. You will solve complex problems, deliver significant impact, and ensure excellence for the Rider Android team, influencing architecture, platform, processes, and culture while coaching and guiding engineers across the group.
Responsibilities
- Work across product teams to design, build, and release features in the Lyft Rider application
- Define long-term roadmap and architecture
- Oversee major changes to Android architecture
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers
- Continuously discover and implement new technologies to maximize developer efficiency
- Mentor and support developers with code reviews and design feedback
- Solve complex real-time data transfer and synchronization issues
- Implement pixel-perfect designs with advanced interactions
Experience
- 6+ years of experience as an Android developer
- Advanced knowledge of Java and Kotlin
- Familiarity with RxJava
- Very knowledgeable about architecture and design patterns
- Worked on and shipped large-scale Android applications
- Great product sense and care about usability and design
- Collaborated with product managers, designers, and engineering teams

Compensation
Expected base pay range for the San Francisco area is $176,000 - $220,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus, or benefits.
Work arrangement
Hybrid schedule — in-office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
