Pinterest is a platform where millions of people find creative ideas and plan for memories. We are looking for a Staff Data Scientist to lead the forecasting team.
What you'll do
- Be the technical lead for the forecasting team, owning strategy and implementation of forecasting models for key company metrics.
- Lead the full modeling lifecycle: problem framing, feature engineering, model development, experimentation, deployment, monitoring, and explainability.
- Set the forecasting technical vision and partner with Engineering to shape the forecasting platform.
- Translate forecasts into decisions, presenting to senior leadership.
- Drive broader time-series impact beyond point forecasts (anomaly detection, root-cause analysis, attribution).
- Embed forecasting into business processes with BizOps/Finance and product teams.
- Lead and mentor at least two data scientists.
What we're looking for
- 8+ years of experience building and shipping production time-series/forecasting models with web-scale data.
- Strong background in time-series modeling and applied statistics/econometrics; advanced degree preferred.
- Expertise in at least one scripting language (ideally Python) and strong SQL skills (Hive/Presto/Spark SQL).
- Experience building reliable data pipelines/workflows (e.g., Airflow).
- Business acumen, communication skills, and proven technical leadership.
Compensation: Base salary range $164,695—$339,078 USD, plus equity.
Location: Hybrid, US-based, with in-office collaboration 1-2 times/quarter.
