Staff Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer, Embedding Platform

The LS Embedding Machine Learning Platform team builds highly expressive ML models powering Reddit's recommendation systems, leveraging modern deep learning and scalable model designs to enhance personalization.

As a Staff Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer, you will own the technical direction for large-scale ML platforms, guiding development of advanced deep learning architectures and high-impact ML systems. You will partner with leadership to define ML roadmaps, drive innovation in scalable model design and training, and ensure efficient, reliable deployment of ML models in production.

• Architect and lead development of next-generation, large-scale machine learning techniques.
• Define and execute ML strategy to enhance personalization and recommendation quality.
• Lead research on scalable ML systems and real-time model adaptation, bringing advancements into production.
• Partner with ML infrastructure teams to build high-performance distributed training systems across GPUs and cloud environments.
• Optimize real-time serving architectures for large-scale embeddings, ensuring low-latency inference and high throughput.
• Collaborate with Feed Ranking, Ads, Content Understanding, and Core ML teams to integrate ML models.
• Mentor senior and mid-level ML engineers.
• Stay at the forefront of AI research and drive technical discussions.

• 8+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, focusing on large-scale ML systems and recommendation/personalization.
• Expertise in modern deep learning architectures, including sequence and foundational models.
• Deep understanding of complex multi-entity relationships in ML applications.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and optimize scalable ML architectures from distributed training to real-time inference.
• Strong software engineering in Python, C++, or similar, with ML infrastructure and cloud-based pipelines.
• Demonstrated leadership in driving ML strategy and mentoring engineers.
• Experience with A/B testing, model evaluation, and real-time feedback loops.
