Staff+ Software Engineer, Enterprise

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation focused on creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The Enterprise team makes Claude enterprise-ready at scale, supporting Fortune 500 companies rolling out Claude to 100,000 employees.

We are looking for a Staff+ Engineer to anchor the Enterprise pillar, defining multi-year technical strategy, leading high-complexity initiatives, and serving as a primary technical decision-maker for architectural decisions with org-wide scope.

• Define and drive multi-year technical strategy, including distributability and multi-cloud strategy.
• Lead the highest-complexity, highest-impact engineering initiatives spanning multiple teams.
• Serve as a primary technical decision-maker for major architectural decisions.
• Partner with teams such as Inference, Platform, Customer Success, Infrastructure, and Safeguards.
• Mentor and develop Staff-level engineers.
• Drive alignment across Product, GTM, Customer Success, and beyond.

• 10+ years of engineering experience with a track record at Staff or Senior Staff level.
• Demonstrated ability to shape technical strategy for large-scale Cloud Service Provider or Enterprise SaaS companies.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and API architecture.
• Strong domain expertise in enterprise areas such as security, identity, compliance, governance, permissions, and connectivity.

Languages: Python, Golang, Rust. Infrastructure: GCP, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes. Databases: PostgreSQL (AlloyDB), Vector Stores, Firestore, Spanner. Tools: Feature Flagging, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Claude Code.

Annual Salary: $405,000—$485,000 USD.

San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. Hybrid policy: all staff expected in office at least 25% of the time.
