Anthropic is a public benefit corporation focused on creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The Identity & Access Controls team builds systems that verify customer identity, grant access to advanced model capabilities for approved use cases, and ensure access is not misused.

As a Staff+ Software Engineer, you will build identity verification and vetting systems (KYC/KYB), design access control systems, build infrastructure for safety configurations, develop monitoring for misuse detection, detect and remediate account takeover, integrate with third-party identity vendors, and create dashboards and admin tooling.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or comparable experience, experience building and operating backend systems in production, proficiency in Python and SQL, strong communication skills, and care about societal impacts of AI.

Preferred qualifications: 8+ years of industry experience, experience with identity/authentication/authorization at scale, KYC/KYB workflows, trust and safety, account takeover detection, and building internal tooling.

Compensation: Annual salary $320,000—$485,000 USD.

Location: Hybrid - San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle, with at least 25% in office.

Visa sponsorship: Offered, with reasonable efforts to obtain visas.
