Staff+ Software Engineer, Product Sandboxing

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Our team builds and runs the secure execution environment behind Claude's agentic capabilities—the layer between the model and the outside world that makes untrusted code execution safe, fast, and reliable at scale.

• Independently scope complex, multi-month projects and drive cross-org alignment through ambiguous problem spaces.
• Make architectural decisions that shape how Anthropic builds and scales products.
• Partner directly with research to productize cutting-edge capabilities.
• Have lasting impact on the platform used by hundreds of thousands of companies and engineers.

• Have a minimum of 8 years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer building scalable distributed systems, ideally at tech lead level.
• Have strong fundamentals in service-oriented architectures, networking, and systems design.
• Are proficient in Python, Go, Rust, or similar systems languages.
• Have experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and/or multi-cloud networking.
• Take full ownership of your work—from design through deployment and operations.
• Can navigate ambiguity and make sound technical decisions independently.
• Take a product-focused approach to platform work.

Compensation: Annual salary $405,000—$485,000 USD.

Location & Hybrid Policy: Preference given to candidates based in NY, SEA, SF or the Bay Area. All staff are expected to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time.
