Staff Software Engineer, Revenue Systems

Squarespace is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to support and evolve the systems at the core of its monetization platform: billing, payments and orders. This hybrid role (NYC, 3 days/week) reports to the Director of Revenue Systems and involves owning system architecture, serving as technical lead, mentoring engineers, and driving engineering excellence.

• Own system architectural vision and design for critical areas of the business.
• Transform high-level vision into project plans and serve as technical lead on cross-functional projects.
• Mentor engineers and drive best practices for engineering excellence.
• Set the engineering quality bar through regular, high-quality code contributions across billing, orders and payments.

• 10+ years experience with complex distributed backend services.
• Significant experience with multiple programming languages (especially Java) and tools like Springboot, hibernate, databases.
• Demonstrated experience leading system architecture decisions across multiple teams.
• Proven ability to serve as technical lead on cross-functional projects.
• Experience with billing, orders or payment systems at scale.

Cash Compensation Range: $185,500 - $299,000 USD.
