About the role
Asana's API team owns the gateways that enable data flow into and out of Asana, including the public API and MCP server for LLMs. We're looking for a staff-level Technical Lead to drive execution and technical vision for our developer platform. This role is based in Vancouver with an office-centric hybrid schedule (in-office Mon, Tue, Thu).
What you'll achieve
- Set technical strategy for the API platform, advocating for engineering-driven investments.
- Drive the team to continually improve, enabling engineers to deliver at high velocity and grow skills.
- Collaborate with Engineering groups and serve as technical counterpart to the API Engineering Manager.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and User Research to understand developer and agentic needs.
- Own guidelines for good API design and help product engineering teams implement best practices.
- Develop across the stack, writing Scala, Javascript, and Typescript.
About you
- 10+ years as an engineer in large, complex codebases.
- 2+ years leading engineering teams of 5+ engineers.
- 1+ years building public-facing API products or Developer Platforms.
- Deep project management experience including timeline planning, risk mitigation, stakeholder management.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills.
- Passionate about mentoring engineers at all skill levels.
- Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies.
Compensation
Estimated base salary range: $211,000-$240,000. Additional components may include equity and benefits.
