About the job

Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society. The company is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco.

Anthropic is seeking a Workday Business Systems Analyst to join its People Systems team, owning technical configuration, testing, and operational excellence of the Workday HRIS across two domains: PATT (Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking) and HCM. The deepest work is on the PATT side, refining payroll, absence, and time tracking configuration and shaping PATT design decisions, while also owning core HCM data structures, business process frameworks, and the security model. The analyst serves as a system expert for strategic guidance and hands-on delivery, partnering with People, Finance, IT, and beyond to keep the HRIS secure, scalable, and a true business enabler.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain Payroll (pay components, earnings and deductions, pay groups, period schedules, payroll business processes), Absence (time-off plans, accrual rules, eligibility criteria, leave types), and Time Tracking (time entry templates, validations, work schedules, overtime calculations)
  • Configure and maintain Core HCM foundations: supervisory organizations, staffing models, job profiles and compensation structures, custom organizations, and worker data integrity
  • Support annual People cycles including compensation review setup, open enrollment configuration, and org restructures
  • Design and maintain business process definitions including condition rules, calculated fields, custom validations, routing and approval logic, and notifications
  • Own the Workday security model: role-based, user-based, and intersection security groups, domain security policies, business process security policies, and integration system users
  • Support security and data audits, perform impact analysis before changes ship, and lead testing and adoption for Workday's twice-yearly releases
  • Build advanced, matrix, and composite reports and dashboards; support mass data changes via EIB; triage and resolve day-to-day system issues to root cause
  • Apply AI and automation to strengthen People Systems — from testing, documentation, and requirements drafting to ticket triage and report generation — using Anthropic's own tools in daily workflow

Qualifications

Minimum: Deep hands-on working knowledge of Workday PATT configuration and design, business process configuration, and security; hands-on Workday Core HCM knowledge; experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments; full lifecycle Workday implementations or significant module expansions; strong technical skills in Workday architecture, security models, and integration methodologies; strong communication, documentation, and relationship-building skills; a collaborative mindset and commitment to process excellence.

Preferred: 7+ years as a Workday Business Systems Analyst; Workday Pro accreditations or partner certifications in HCM, Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking; familiarity with Workday integration tools (EIB, Core Connectors including PECI/PICOF/DCoD, Workday Studio, SOAP/REST Web Services / RaaS), authentication (SSO, SFTP, API keys/certs), and typical HR integration partners; exposure to Workday Prism Analytics, Extend, or advanced reporting; experience applying AI tools to HRIS or People operations work; knowledge of complementary HR/Finance systems and data privacy regulations.

Compensation

Annual salary: $270,000—$270,000 USD.

Logistics

Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a field relevant to the role. Location-based hybrid policy: all staff are expected in one of Anthropic's offices at least 25% of the time. Visa sponsorship is offered. Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, and flexible working hours.
