Anthropic Fellows Program

Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The Anthropic Fellows Program is designed to foster AI research and engineering talent, providing funding and mentorship to promising technical talent regardless of previous experience. Fellows work on empirical projects aligned with Anthropic's research priorities, with the goal of producing a public output such as a paper submission.

The program runs for 4 months of full-time research, with direct mentorship from Anthropic researchers, access to shared workspaces in Berkeley or London, and connection to the broader AI safety and security research community. Fellows receive a weekly stipend of 3,850 USD / 2,310 GBP / 4,300 CAD plus benefits (varying by country), and funding for compute (~$15k/month) and other research expenses.

Workstreams include AI Safety, AI Security, ML Systems & Performance, Reinforcement Learning, and The Anthropic Institute Fellows (Economics & Policy). Candidates are considered for all workstreams by default and may indicate preferences in the application.

Ideal candidates are motivated by AI safety, have a strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics, are fluent in Python, and are available to work full-time. Strong candidates may have experience in relevant disciplines such as economics, social sciences, or cybersecurity, and experience in research or engineering related to their workstream.

Logistics: Must have work authorization in the US, UK, or Canada and be located in that country during the program. Visa sponsorship is not available. Fellows work from shared workspaces in Berkeley or London, with remote option in the US, UK, or Canada.
