Role

As Credit Card Counsel, you will help build, globally scale, and continuously improve Brex's spend management software products, including budgets, spend policies, approvals, and audit and controls. You will advise on regulatory and commercial issues across software and fintech products, including data privacy, contracting, intellectual property, AI and automation, and consumer- and commercial-protection requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as embedded legal partner to engineering, product, and design teams building spend management software.
  • Provide pragmatic, actionable advice on requirements and best practices for existing and new features.
  • Advise on regulatory and commercial implications of product architecture, data flows, automation and AI features, integrations, and feature design.
  • Advise on critical credit, lending, and card network regulatory questions.
  • Draft, update, and maintain customer agreements, terms, disclosures, and feature-level terms.
  • Support data handling, integration, and partner arrangements.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years working experience in law firms and technology or fintech companies, ideally advising on credit card, lending, and commercial matters.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and international credit, lending, and card laws, including TILA/Regulation Z, ECOA/Regulation B, UDAP/UDAAP, and card network rules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Law degree and admitted to practice in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Bonus: prior in-house counsel experience, experience advising on AI and automation, experience with bank partner and card network relationships, and experience with regulatory agencies.

Compensation

The expected salary range is $189,000 - $230,000 USD. Equity and other forms of compensation may be provided.
