Anthropic is a public benefit corporation focused on creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We are investing in drug discovery and development and are looking for an exceptional biotech operator to accelerate research. The role is central to speeding up drug development by an order of magnitude, bringing scientific judgment and operational expertise to identify where AI can have the greatest impact.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify and prioritize areas where AI can accelerate life sciences research
- Turn scientific ideas into concrete, well-scoped efforts
- Translate ambiguous scientific questions into structured, testable plans
- Work hands-on with Claude and Claude Science to explore hypotheses and design research
- Partner across research, product, and go-to-market teams
- Serve as a trusted scientific voice
Minimum qualifications:
- Strong scientific and operating background with direct experience taking ideas from concept to results in a company setting; MD/PhD not required
- Multidisciplinary experience at a high-growth life sciences company or leading science-focused investment/venture firm
- Previously founded or joined as founding team member of a biotechnology startup
- Excellent scientific taste and entrepreneurial instinct
- Ability to execute independently with real judgment
- Blend of scientific and business literacy
Preferred qualifications:
- 7+ years of direct experience taking ideas from concept to results in a company setting
- Comfort navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving environment
Annual Salary: $300,000—$320,000 USD
Location: New York City, NY. Hybrid policy: all staff expected in office at least 25% of the time.
