About the job
About the role
Samsara is looking to expand its in-house legal roster with an agile litigator able to work across litigation, compliance, and privacy matters. The ideal candidate will enjoy serving as a key contributor on a diverse range of high-stakes litigation and pre-litigation issues, as well as helping to build out processes and procedures for a rapidly growing, global business. The role requires the ability to advise cross-functional teams on litigation strategy and to collaborate and manage outside counsel.
In this role, you will
- Coordinate end-to-end commercial litigation support, including responding to discovery requests, drafting and revising legal briefs, interviewing witnesses, preparing witnesses for testimony, and negotiating and drafting settlements.
- Advocate for customer data privacy and protection under applicable law, providing counsel to resolve subpoenas or other legal requests seeking Samsara customer data, and manage litigation of such matters in civil and criminal courts as necessary.
- Mitigate risk and proactively resolve disputes while providing risk mitigation advice to business clients.
- Uplevel and manage the eDiscovery lifecycle through automation and AI, establishing defensible discovery guidelines and workflows, evaluating emerging enterprise communication and collaboration platforms, and partnering with business partners to control external spend.
- Drive process innovation by identifying systematic legal risks and procedural gaps, designing scalable strategies, and leveraging AI or other technology to mitigate risk.
- Monitor trends and deliver actionable legal insights to key internal stakeholders.
Minimum requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials, and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- 4+ years of litigation experience within a law firm, government agency, or corporate legal department, with a strong preference for prior in-house experience at a technology company.
- Highly proactive self-starter with demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and complex litigation portfolios simultaneously.
- Broad experience handling legal risk, conducting deep legal research, and navigating complex regulatory compliance and data privacy frameworks.
- Direct experience managing commercial disputes, responding to regulatory inquiries, or handling adversarial legal matters from inception through resolution or trial.
- Outstanding analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
