About the job

Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We are building the Applied AI team to help organizations adopt Claude in transformative, safe, and lasting ways. As the first Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) Manager, you will build and scale the team that embeds with strategic customers to ship production AI applications.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, and retain a world-class team of FDEs.
  • Staff and oversee customer engagements, balancing customer needs, team development, and business priorities.
  • Review technical architectures and code, ensuring high-quality, production-ready solutions.
  • Build repeatable playbooks, starter repositories, and integration templates.
  • Define team OKRs and create operational cadences.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to translate field insights into product improvements.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed (25-50%).

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, or technical customer-facing roles.
  • 2+ years of people management experience in services/post-sales/FDE organizations.
  • Experience building organizations from 0->1.
  • Experience with enterprise customers and complex organizational dynamics.
  • Executive presence and strong communication skills.

Compensation: Annual salary of £255,000—£325,000 GBP.

Logistics: Hybrid policy requiring at least 25% time in office. Visa sponsorship is available.
