About the Role
Databricks, the Data and AI company, seeks a Payroll Tax Manager to serve as the internal subject matter expert on all payroll tax matters. This role advises payroll, equity, HR, and accounting teams on legislative changes, validates existing and new positions, develops global payroll tax policy, and leads payroll tax audits and inquiries from revenue authorities.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the global payroll team to review payroll tax calculations and document technical positions.
- Support M&A integration to ensure pre- and post-close payroll tax positions are supported and optimized.
- Validate equity withholding and assist with shareholder transaction planning.
- Lead global payroll tax audits (internal and external) and remediate identified exposures.
- Guide global payroll tax policy and implementation.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, Accounting, Equity Administration, Legal, and Benefits on cross-functional initiatives.
- Partner with the Finance Data Team to re-imagine payroll tax reporting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of payroll tax experience.
- Strong knowledge of US federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Knowledge of international payroll tax regulations and equity compensation tax matters.
- Experience with payroll systems and tax filing platforms (SAP, NetSuite, Workday preferred).
- Experience leveraging automation tools or AI at work.
- Experience with payroll tax audits and negotiating with revenue authorities.
Compensation
Zone 1 Pay Range: $161,000—$221,450 USD. Total compensation may include annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
