This individual will play a key role in supporting complex accounting matters, building scalable processes, collaborating cross-functionally, and contributing to a strong internal control and reporting environment that meets the standards of a sophisticated, fast-growing SaaS company. This is a full-time position based out of our Oakland office, with a hybrid work model offering two days in the office each week.

What You'll Do

  • Research, analyze, and document technical accounting issues and memos, and prepare calculations to support accounting conclusions and facilitate external audit reviews in accordance with US GAAP, including ASC 718, ASC 350-40, ASC 340, ASC 805, ASC 842, and ASC 480.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, and lead implementation of significant changes.
  • Work with external valuation specialists to ensure complex transaction valuations are completed accurately and on time, including managing inputs and reviewing deliverables for 409A valuations, intangible asset valuations, and equity award valuations.
  • Collaborate with teams across Accounting Operations, Engineering, Finance, Legal, HR, and other departments to ensure technical guidance is consistently operationalized and understood.
  • Support initiatives to enhance external reporting readiness, including complex accounting topics, disclosures, and process improvements.
  • Help design and implement efficient, SOX-compliant accounting processes and internal controls to support organizational growth.
  • Partner with external auditors and consultants to ensure timely and accurate conclusions on accounting matters.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members on technical accounting topics and emerging standards.

Skills We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA license required.
  • 7+ years of combined experience in Big 4 public accounting and/or corporate accounting at a SaaS or high-growth technology company.
  • Demonstrated technical accounting expertise and experience drafting memos on complex, non-routine transactions.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX).
  • Experience working in or supporting a company with increasing external reporting, audit, or regulatory complexity.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools (Netsuite and Workiva preferred) and a mindset toward process improvement and automation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail; comfortable working independently in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Bonus Skills

  • Prior experience as part of an S-1 filing or IPO project team.
  • Experience with automation and AI tools to drive efficiency.
