Principal Product Manager, Gusto Pro Workflows

Gusto is on a mission to grow the small business economy, handling payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR for over 500,000 small businesses. With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, Gusto is building an AI-first workplace where all team members are expected to engage with AI tools relevant to their role.

Gusto Pro is Gusto's product built specifically for Accountants, who are one of Gusto's largest user groups and act as a one-to-many growth engine by referring small business clients. The goal is to become the most efficient platform for accountants to deliver payroll and advisory services.

• Lead product discovery to uncover customer problems and test risky assumptions.
• Create a long-term vision and strategy for durable competitive advantage.
• Build iteratively to prove out hypotheses and test new concepts.
• Partner with Engineering, Design, and Data Science throughout product development.
• Rapidly execute with emphasis on user delight, impact, and learning.
• Balance hands-on building with strategic storytelling.
• Define, measure, and improve key product and business metrics, especially in payroll task coordination, roles & permissions, reports, and other workflows.

• 8+ years of hands-on Product Management and/or Product leadership experience.
• Proven track record of leading R&D teams that deliver impactful results.
• Natural curiosity, grit, customer obsession, and humility.
• Expert product discovery and analytical skills.
• Ability to tell a compelling story that drives alignment.
• Exceptional collaboration skills; ability to build trust with teams and customers.
• Passion for helping small and medium size businesses.
• Strong POV and demonstrated impact through building products in the age of AI.

Cash compensation for this role is $210,000/yr to $263,000/yr for New York and San Francisco. All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs).

Gusto has offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York. Employees based in those locations are expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week. The role is eligible for hybrid work in Denver, New York, and San Francisco.
