About Mixpanel
Mixpanel is the leading product intelligence and analytics platform, trusted by more than 29,000 companies to help understand how people use the products they build. By combining powerful analytics with AI that knows your business, Mixpanel helps teams see what’s working, diagnose what’s not, and decide what to build next.
About the Role
We’re hiring a Product Manager for Mixpanel Data. In this role, you'll own Mixpanel's strategy and roadmap for where we sit in the data landscape - how our data architecture evolves, where we build versus integrate versus get out of the way, and what it means for Mixpanel to work with data that increasingly lives outside our walls as well as inside them. This is a pathfinding role: a large part of the job is turning ambiguous technical and business tradeoffs into a clear point of view, a roadmap, and decisions the engineering and leadership team can act on.
What You'll Do
- Define and drive Mixpanel's strategy and roadmap for how the product evolves alongside customers' data warehouses, lakes, and the broader modern data stack.
- Turn complex, ambiguous architecture and business tradeoffs into a clear recommendation, grounded in customer evidence, competitive context, and business impact.
- Partner closely with engineering leadership on build-vs-integrate-vs-partner decisions that shape Mixpanel's data architecture for years to come.
- Talk directly to customers and prospects to understand how their data infrastructure and workflows are changing, and translate that into product bets.
- Build the business case for infrastructure-level investments, making the ROI of foundational, long-horizon work legible to leadership.
- Define how Mixpanel's data model, governance, and metadata need to evolve to support deeper analysis and a growing product portfolio.
- Align engineering, design, and go-to-market teams around a shared strategic point of view, with clear, written communication.
- Define and track the metrics that tell you whether the strategy is working, and course-correct as new evidence comes in.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on product management experience, including ownership of technically complex, infrastructure- or platform-level problems.
- Direct experience with the modern data stack — data warehouses, data lakes, ETL/ELT, or data platform tooling — as a builder, user, or product owner.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity, with a track record of synthesizing competing technical and business inputs into a clear strategic point of view.
- Experience partnering closely with engineering on architecture-level tradeoffs, not just feature scoping.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bring technical and non-technical audiences along on a strategic narrative.
- Experience using AI tools in product management workflows (e.g., competitive research, prototyping).
Nice to Have
- Experience at a data infrastructure, data platform, or analytics company.
- Hands-on experience with data warehouses/lakehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks) or open data formats.
- Experience writing production-grade software.
- Experience designing products using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Abstract.
Compensation and Benefits
Total target cash compensation (TTCC) range: $175,000—$210,000 USD. Includes base and variable compensation (company bonus or commissions). Eligible for equity consideration and benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance. Benefits include comprehensive medical, vision, and dental care, mental wellness benefit, generous vacation policy & additional company holidays, enhanced parental leave, volunteer time off, and additional US benefits: pre-tax benefits including 401(K), wellness benefit, holiday break.
