Program Manager, Communications

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco, focused on creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We are seeking a Program Manager to join our Communications team, serving as the operational backbone for high-stakes product launches, major announcements, and fast-moving reactive situations.

• Run the operating rhythm for major campaigns: planning, prioritization, status reporting, and retrospectives.
• Translate ambiguous projects into clear workstreams, owners, timelines, and decision points.
• Serve as a strategic thought partner, surfacing risks and tradeoffs early.
• Build alignment and drive accountability across cross-functional partners (Product, Marketing, Policy, Legal, Research, and executive teams).
• Anticipate operational bottlenecks and resolve them under compressed timelines.
• Design and improve the team's operating framework: playbooks, crisis response protocols, escalation paths, and coordination models.

• 10+ years of experience in program management, communications operations, or related discipline, including significant time working in or alongside communications teams.
• Deep understanding of communications functions, including campaigns, media moments, and crisis response.
• Experience leading complex, high-visibility programs under pressure.
• Experience with high-growth teams and scaling processes.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders without formal authority.
• Impeccable organizational skills and strategic thinking in real time.
• Flexibility with last-minute pivots and shifting priorities.
• Relentless follow-through and exceptional communication clarity.
• Care about ensuring transformative AI systems are developed safely.

Strong candidates may also have in-house communications or agency experience at a high-growth tech company, direct experience supporting crisis communications, experience standing up program management functions, and familiarity with the AI landscape.

Annual Salary: $265,000—$295,000 USD
