Senior Customer Engineer, SLED

Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Customer Engineer to focus on SLED (State, Local, and Education) and Local Government sectors. This is a quota-carrying technical role within the GTM organization, reporting to the Regional Customer Engineering Leader. You will own the technical relationship from discovery through adoption and expansion, using AI-augmented workflows to reduce administrative toil.

• Lead technical discovery, build architectures, and deliver demos and Proofs of Concept across Cloudflare's Security, Networking, and Developer Platforms, tailored to public sector procurement and compliance.
• Oversee technical onboarding and implementation, serving as the primary technical contact, and monitor customer health and telemetry to ensure time-to-value.
• Carry a variable quota tied to new business and account growth, lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews, and identify cross-sell/up-sell opportunities.
• Act as a trusted advisor throughout the customer lifecycle.
• Leverage AI agents and internal platforms to automate routine tasks like RFP responses and sandbox provisioning.

• Proven experience selling into SLED, Local Government, or Municipal agencies, with understanding of public sector buying cycles and compliance.
• Experience in a customer-facing technical role (Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineer).
• Broad technical expertise in web security, networking (routing, DNS, DDoS mitigation), cloud infrastructure, and enterprise architecture.
• Track record in quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environments, with understanding of SaaS metrics and public sector sales cycles.
• Exceptional presentation and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience with Cloudflare's developer platform and AI ecosystem (Workers AI, AI Gateway, Vectorize).
• Experience with prompt engineering, LLM orchestration, or RAG architectures.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages for custom integration scripts and API connectors.

For San Francisco based hires: estimated annual salary of $231,000-$275,000+ OTE (Base + Commissions). For Los Angeles based hires: estimated annual salary of $221,000-$267,000 OTE. Eligible for Cloudflare's equity plan.
